D&D 3E/3.5 After errata, is the Grab monster ability as obnoxious as 3E's Improved Grab?

I usually did though, as i think most monsters don´t want to open themselves unnecessary, and this was the only chance to give players a fair chance to escape. Always using this rule allowed not to look up which exact consequences beeing grappled yourself had as an additional benefit.

Grappling, Improved Grab, etc. never bothered me in 3E, but the rules changes PF made did.

And changing the rules again does kinda annoy me, so...yes?
