For you, that's true. I find online/electronic socializing superior to in-person, with a couple exceptions. The best part, for me, is the elimination of third parties, such as intrusive pets or feral offspring. Or viruses borne by said feral offspring.

Plus, gamers can play while sick.

Glad it works well for you As i said in post you quoted, if people find online play enjoyable, it's awesome tool with lot's of benefits, scheduling and logistics being major one. Btw i'm stealing that expression about feral offspring

Yep. Online helps immensly with keeping up in those situations.

Hi, if I may comment. Having old friends who still play ttrpg's in their later years is a gift. I have a group of people that I've played with since my late teens (I'm in my 50's) and I'm very grateful to have them still in my life. At this juncture, they have become my extended family, and we have been through much together. The aging process will continue, but hopefully, you'll be with people around you, on or offline, that understand this. It's a mindset, I made up my mind. I'm playing until I can't no more! "Rage! Rage against the dying of the light!"

I'm sure I've said this before (maybe on this thread!) but in 2017 I got together my old gaming friends. We've been playing at least 30 times per year every since. And it's online. Because we're not only in different parts of the country...we're in different countries. However, we have gotten together 2 or 3 times to play in person and it's been a ton of fun. Nearly all of us have kids. Some of us (including myself) are now turning 50. And the significance of these friendships has never been greater.

Man, this is me. I keep hoping my docs will be able to help with the brain fog but so far, nothing. It doesn't help that I'm only really interested in playing TSR editions.

Sometimes! I've played 3.X and some 5.0 and they just don't hit right.

I quit when 2e came out, but I had been having doubts for quite a while. I had hoped their would reign in the power level and expand the combat system, but it was not meant to be.
