Agyris Setting Map Download

Agyris

First Post
I just posted a new downloadable map (pdf) of my fantasy campaign setting "Agyris".

See the link from the Agyris homepage at:

In case you're not familliar with Agyris.net, the website is a massive encyclopedia of a gritty and troubled world; it contains npcs, helpful articles, newspapers, unique creatures, new gods, and hundreds of quality illustrations. None of it is generic, as it is steeped in the cultures of the land.

All this content is separated for GMs and Players, and everything is free.

We're not selling anything there, but we thought that some of you worldbuilders out there might be interested in checking out our efforts.

Good Work!

very nice, and well done site. What did you use for the maps? They look great! I use CC2 Pro which I love but It just doesnt give that look like your map has. the only thing I didnt like about the map is that It didnt show any forests. Which is a minor thing and may not be relevant to your realm. The forests in my world are of major importance. The one thing that I really loved was the way you did the gods. Its about time someone did it like that, in a tree. its much easier to read that way. As for the Artwork, top notch. You have a great atmosphere to the site that is consecutive and flowing in each page. I must say again, its a excellent site and one of thebest Homebrew sites I have seen in a Long time.

Hi Amolitor -

Thanks for the kind words.

The maps were drawn by hand, and then colored in photoshop. In fact, I just posted a new map yesterday, one for Kalka Island, in the Belt of Urgo.

Yeah, I need to figure out a good way to do forests. I have forests in my world, just like any other, but they don't show up on the map, because it's parchment. I need to treat them like the mountains, and just illustrate them.

I'm really glad that you like our artwork. That part is ignored alot, but I think that it is one of the strongest points of our world. The illustrators are superb, and do a great job. (I'm not talking about myself, I just do the maps and price list illustrations, and the site design.)

Thanks for checking Agyris out.

I've found that it's not too hard to make some trees (or anything else) in PS or Illustrator and just keep them for ready copy-paste into a map. It's a LOT quicker than hand inking too. Sort of like fudging the symbol library from CC2, except that since it's not CAD everything is a little easier to use. Using Illustrator to make trees comes out really clean, but sometimes a little _too_ clean. I prefer to sketch them out on my Wacom in PS most of the time just using one of the natural looking pencil brushes. Strangely though, I think the Illustrator mountains look a bit better than the ones I build using PS.
