Ah! Tarrasque!

kill the guy who wants to wake it, let it sleep. :D

My thoughts exactly. You'll be better heroes for doing that... the whole "stop the guy who wants to destroy the world" bent. Besides, that'll probably be easier than fighting the tarrasque. This is clearly not a guy you want to have in charge of a large number of people.

Several Possible Suggestions:

1) Can 1 or more of the casters cast gate or plane shift?
If So you can attempt to Plane Shift Big T to another plane and leave him there.
That way it is dealt with but not fought. A Cubic Gate Could possible also do the same
Trick. Btw, I suggest Sending BIG T to The Positive Material Plane. Very fiew beings
there and Given an hour or too Big T will Just Explode and if you do this quickly enough
If your end up there with it you can heal the damage it just did to you. And last time I
I checked Big T does not have any ability of its own to plane shift. So all you have to
Do is Get past its SR and Saves and The the Tarrasque is gone!

2) Can your Casters Cast True Shape Change. Study it while it is sleeping and Shape
Change into one. Or Pick something else Say A an Ancient Gold Dragon IF you have
ever met one.

3) Magical Mirrors 1, If you can create or Steal a Mirror of Oposition Let Big T see him self
in this mirror and stand back and watch the Fight while 2 Tarrasque Fight. When the
Mirror Tarrasque Dies it just goes away. (This is not without Problems You could end up
With 2 Tarrasque and double the trouble.)

4) Magical Mirrors 2, A mirror of Life Trapping. Let Big T see its reflection and Poof
impresioned Tarrasque. Then Make Sure that no one ever finds this mirror.
maby a plane shift to Cordinate oposition and burring it at the base of the spire.

5) Use Magic to collaps that section of the MINE. Say Summon a fiew Earth Elementals
as a Sapping crew and Burry that sucker deep. Augment the Earth Elementals with
Spells like Move Earth and Stone shape. If you feal the need you can after burring it
Follow up with a series of EarthQuake Spells and Have the Eearth Elementals Shore up
Damage from the Earth Quake . If you do this correctly you might even
kill the thing by suffication.

Just a fiew Quick out of the box thoughts. I hope they help. GOOD LUCK

I completely agree with several other people here. Kill the Guy-In-Charge. There's a couple reasons why you should do this: 1) He will very likely be FAR easier to defeat. Even if he is an epic level wizard, a nice surprise attack should do him in. 2) Anyone who would encourage a Tarrasque to destroy his own kingdom is EVIL; you would be comitting a valiant and noble act by dispatching of this tyrant. 3) It will piss off the DM who came up with such a silly quest/idea in the first place.

But, if you reaaaally have to take out the Tarrasque...maybe you should try sealing all entrances to the cave with walls of stone and walls of iron, then wait for it to suffocate. Or, you could thrown in a decanter of endless water to drown it.

I thought about drowning it too. However:
Regeneration (Ex): No form of attack deals lethal damage to the tarrasque. The tarrasque regenerates even if it fails a saving throw against a disintegrate spell or a death effect. If the tarrasque fails its save against a spell or effect that would kill it instantly (such as those mentioned above), the spell or effect instead deals nonlethal damage equal to the creature’s full normal hit points +10 (or 868 hp).
So, while a valid tactic, you still need a wish/miracle.

Really, keeping the evil dude away from the tarrasque is just as good as killing the evil guy in this case. Both solve the problem, and just keeping him away might cause less problems elsewhere in terms of political instability and such.

The wizard is 18th level... Don't know if he has it, but:

The monster is pretty stupid. I wonder if you could trick it into moving through a Gate spell?

The hole is up to 20' in diameter - it should be able to squeeze through that?

I figure you'd have to be careful where you send it, imagine the local residents are going to be severely p*ssed off having an angry Tarrasque dumped on them. I'd be prepared to bet that it'll come back to haunt you later, but it'd solve the problem for now?

There's a really nice spell in the CBoEM called squamous pulse. It deals damage to creatures based in part on their natural armor, and I believe reduces it as well.

In CAdv or CArc, there's a spell that lowers SR called assay resistance or something.

How about you cast stone shape to make a downward slope...add in a couple grease spells, open a gate at the end...and give it a little nudge. Hopefully it will stay sleeping as it slides through the gate.... or if it wakes up, create an illusion of a hot girly Tarrasque walking through the gate...bugs bunny style
