Ah! Tarrasque!

I think gates could work, even if you couldn't get him while he was sleeping. It would however take several and some gate seals.

If you see him walking towards you create two gates on the ground in front of his feet (with any luck he won't realize its a trap until too late). He steps in (trying to stagger them to match his stride would be good), and you seal the gates as soon as his legs are in. Now his legs are trapped on another plain (but they still exist so he won't regenerate them.) If this worked he is going to be down to his arms and stubs (with mystic seals around the appendages)

Stagger two more gates around where his arms are going as he drags himself toward you, and repeat the extend and seal trick. Once all his appendages are quite conviently else where, have the fighters climb up on his back and push his head through another gate, trapping everything but a slightly thrashing torso in another plane.

If you send these parts to the right planes (lightning, ooze, negative energy, and any of the lower planes) he should eventually kick it simply due to planar hazards. Until then, the threat has been neutralized.

Toras, see what I said about the nature of gate above.

This is so all your fault.

ok if this guy is gating in multiple one of a kind creatures...youre screwed Id just leave, and make sure I inform every leader of every city / town / hamlet / village / dog house etc...what this guy is up to, hopefully enough people will take interest, sounds to me like your in a very unrealistic style campaign (not that theres anything wrong with that mind you)
You see why I'm not taking him on.

Mind you, I don't know how he does it. It's possible there's a lot of ritual involved or a major artifact or it's a property of the arena or they're not real tarrasques...

You say Laughing Boy (what I'll refer to this crazy mage/ruler you're talking about) has messed with tarrasques before? You might be able to use this to your advantage- this gives the game world precedence on dealing with these beasts? How has people reacted to the tarrasques in the past- this might give you information on how to deal with the sleeping one. You can also call out Laughing Boy on repeating old schtick- he's done this sort of thing before. How does he react to taunting or diplomacy?
I'm... not sure what you're getting at. He's summoned tarrasques for gladiatorial fights. It was for the amusement of the crowd, so they enjoyed it, in theory. One running through the countryside, I imagine, would be cause for alarm.

And LB doesn't want to take down the tarrasque; he wants to watch the game.

It's asleep right now -- go plane shift it somewhere before it wakes up!
Could work, I'm not sure about the cosmology of the world. Would a Plane Shift or a coup de grace be a better idea while it's sleeping?

Sigh. Yes, I didn't think the dude was that big of a nut job.

So, so wrong.

You'll have to do normal, not nonlethal, damage if you want to kill it with a CDG. Which you can't, as everything is nonlethal damage against a tarrasque.

Plane Shift - you can't CdG the Tarrasque: nothing deals lethal damage to it.

Plane Shift to the Positive Energy Plane may be an one of the more ... er... final options, assuming it's cosmologically available. Still have to get around that SR 32, though.
