Ahoy

What a certain advcenture film running round my head, and having intended to try swashbuckling for the next campaign I run (sometime after September), I am looking for product recommendations.

What I am looking for is good d20 material for running a pirate/privateer/swashbuckling campaign. I have the Swashbuckling Adventures core and monster books, as well as Living Imagination's first two books, and FFG's Seafarer's Handbook. Are there any other good sources, either already in print or coming soon, that might be of assistance?

Seas of Blood from Mongoose. My understanding is that it is less detailed, more cinematic, than the Sea Farer's Handbook, but since I don't have the SFH I can't say for sure. I've never gone wrong with Fantasy Flight Games though, so I imagine SFH is well done :)

Ok, you probably don't want to wait, but we're going to be releasing "Salt & Sea Dogs" in about a month for the Kingdoms of Kalamar campaign setting. :) It's written for use with D&D v3.5, and integrates very well with those rules, while still adding cool new ship construction and combat rules, as well as weather, prestige classes, spells, etc. And info about the pirates of the lands of Tellene, of course!

Brad,

Sounds like you have our Campaign setting and Broadsides! Why not add to your burgeoning LI collection with our brand new release (debuting in 5 1/2 days at GenCon...) Pirates!. Also debuting at GenCon is Agents of Faith, which allows for Ritual initiation to a deity of any pantheon and has a system of new divine feats based on what domains your god has access to.. but more importantly to you is you Davey Jones ... um jones... so go on account and put your mark to the articles lad, believe you me thar be worse colors out there than the jolly roger and undead pirates be only the beginning....

Pirates! is chock full of swashbuckling goodness, including both historical and fictional pirates (did you know that the man who wrote Amazing Grace was a slaver?) PrC's to go along with said Pirates, new feats, new rituals, new spells, new monsters, templates and new magic items. Even a couple of scenarios to introduce your PC's to the life.

If you're going to gencon you can pick one up at our booth, and even hoist a mug of Grog with us!

I think you've got enough stuff to run a darned fine swashbuckling campaign already. Stop buying stuff and start playing! I would go with swashbuckling adventures for all of the classes, feats, PRCs, and equipment, Broadsides! for the ship rules, and the SwashAdv monster book for opponents.

I think Theah is not my cup of tea for a world though, so I'd probably either homebrew something or just use Earth with a little bit of fantasy to spice it up. No need to buy anything here - just research on the internet or check out books from the library.

If you're really itching to buy more stuff, another one to consider would be Swashbuckling Arcana for extra spell casting ideas.
