D&D 5E Air Elemental and the Gust of Wind spell

In the real world, you have conflicting air masses pushing against each other all the time, it's why we have tornadoes.

Air Elemental + Gust of Wind = Tornado Elemental?

What spells could we add to a Tornado Elemental to teach those pesky players to stop trying to think for themselves?

Tornado Elemental + Sleet Storm = Blizzard Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Wall of Fire or Fireball = Firestorm Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Lightning Bolt or Call Lightning or Storm Sphere = Lightning Storm Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Vitrolic Sphere = Acid Rain Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Thunderwave or Thunderous Smite or Shatter = Thunder Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Wall of Sand or Erupting Earth or Dust Devil = Sand Storm Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Snilloc's Snowball Swarm or Ice Storm = Hail Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Haste = Floridian Storm Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Spike Growth or Cloud of Daggers or Blade Barrier = "I hope you don't like having skin" Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Conjure Animals = Sharknado Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Evard's Black Tentacles or Hunger of Hadar = Great Flying Cthulhu Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Stinking Cloud = Silent but Violent Elemental
Tornado Elemental + Vampiric Touch or Circle of Death or Finger of Death = Lich's Breath Elemental

The possibilities are endless!

Great thread.

@Jaelommiss great ideas for an adventure - an angry summoned elemental, escaping its bonds and unable to return to its home plane (for some reason), now running out of control through the countryside causing much devastation...the adventurers investigate the tower of the wizard (now deceased) who summoned it and discover that he was experimenting to bind an elemental permanently to the material plane...something went wrong during the ritual...this twisted and dangerous elemental now absorbs and evolves as magic is unleashed upon it.

PCs have to puzzle through the wizards notes, solve the mystery of its creation and figure out a way to stop this elemental monstrosity. And that is just one idea ;)

You had me at Sharknado. :D

Well an air elemental still has mass and a physical form, it's not insubstantial like a ghost, so I would assume one moving against an air current would be analogous to a fish swimming against a current. It would cover more ground if it didn't have to fight the current, but being a fish would still be more effective at moving against it than a human. I think this is reflected well by the fact that air elementals move 90ft flying, so would still be able to move 45ft against it, faster than a human by 50% at full speed, so RAW alone should be sufficient to deal with it. Impedes one a bit, but not all that much.

ATornado Elemental + Evard's Black Tentacles or Hunger of Hadar = Great Flying Cthulhu Elemental

Tornado Elemental + Evard's Black Tentacles + Create Food and Water = Flying Spaghetti Monster Elemental

Mortal enemies! Good vs. Evil, Wretchedly Inedible vs. Righteously Delicious!

You're right my friend, the possibilities are endless :)

Funny how that ends up being RAW huh? :)
