Is anyone actually taking Alchemy?
Is this just an out of curiosity question, or is this something you expect to see in play?
I'm asking, because I can't see why anyone would take the alchemy feat or why they'd make any of the items. If I am missing something I'd like to know.

In a campaign where the local alchemist is always open and fully stocked and sells things at list price...I wouldn't take the feat either.
Not every campaign world is the same however.
In some campaigns you can't just buy things at the local alchemists.
The rules are designed to be completely neutral, and individual DMs can adjust their campaigns to their tastes.
It's going to be my wizard's 4th level feat. I've taken Linguist because it's in character for him to be curious about the world and how it works. For 2nd level, I took Burning Blizzard because I'm pretty much specializing in cold and acid powers. When I get to 4th, Alchemy makes perfect sense--I've got a wizard that is interested in how to make things work, and we're in a campaign where it will be incredibly useful.
It's worth it in a campaign where you can't spend your money on magical items.
