D&D 5E Alchemy Almanac vs Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting vs Alchemy & Poisoncraft vs Complete Alchemist

Hi guys, I'm looking for opinions on which of these 3rd party 5E supplements (or any others that you know of that might apply). I'm not sure which way to jump, but I'm interested in implementing more crafting options. Ultimately I want crafting for all professions, not just the usual Smith and Alchemist, but I figured since there's a lot of material in those areas I would start there. What snared my interest so far was:

  • The Ultimate Guide to Alchemy, Crafting & Enchanting (Nord)
  • Alchemy Almanac (Heavyarms)
  • Complete Alchemist (Mage Hand Press)
  • Alchemy & Poisoncraft (Cabal of Enchantment)

I'm hoping some of you guys might already own one or more of these and be able to give recommendations and opinions, so I can decide what to purchase.

The only one from your list I've seen is Heavyarms Alchemy Almanac, which has a lot of great and unique plants and ingredients. Unfortunately, I've mainly been using Kibblestasty's Compendium of Craft and Creation [think I got the full title correct] since it is more comprehensive on various items, and I feel does a better job with the skill checks.

I've been working to integrate the crafting components from Heavyarms into Kibbles' system, but I just haven't had the time to sit down and work with them for the last few months.

Oh cool, I hadn't heard of that one. I went searching and found "Kibbles' Compendium of Craft and Creation" and found the kickstarter which I think closed earlier this year. Looks very interesting!

It is quite good. He generally has most of his work on GMBinder or other free sites as well, even after the Kickstarter, let me see....

Here is the free PDF, can't guarantee it is the same as the paid version

:) I actually went ahead and bought it myself earlier today (the pdf version) but of course it's still in pre-release officially, so I don't know when I'll actually get download links (the website hilariously says the projected delivery date is sometime in February of this year, which is of course long past now; I'm hoping it's just a matter of someone in an office somewhere seeing that I bought it and sending out an email, so maybe I'll get lucky and get download links on Monday :)

I appreciate the peek at the crafting system, as that was one of my main interests, but I'm also curious about the full compendium, particularly the Psion class.

@Jonstark there are two kickstarters.

The Crafting one was completed a while back and is called Kibble's Compendium of Craft and Creation.

The "in-progress" one is the Kibbles' Compendium of Legends and Legacies. And it has a June update as the latest.

Yeah I saw the Legends and Legacies too, and am mulling over whether to jump in on that one or not. But I did indeed purchase the Craft and Creation one. Hopefully I'll get a download link for it soon.

are you mixing up Kickstarters? Legends and Legacies is at 0.7 and in pre-release, Craft and Creation was released a while ago, you should get that right away
