Hand of Glory

96 Page, softbound

The Modern Arms Guide is the only product that I believe is an acceptable price. $24.95 for a 144 page softbound is the average price for a d20 product. It is the only product out of the ones listed above that I have purchased.

Every product since in the Spycraft line has had a lower page count but for the same price. I am disappointed that I won't be an AEG customer anymore.

And don't even get me started on your Game Control Screen and Agent Record Sheet Pack.

Does AEG not have their own boards? I've seen a couple of their developers post here, but not in a while. You'll probably get a more useful response there.

Not a customer anymore

I'm not a publisher, but perhaps it's possible that Spycraft hasn't got the success AEG expected for it and this forced them to lower page count leaving the price the same.

I think that the greater than 96 page count are outside the norm for AEG.

All Rokugan softbound books are at $25, and the only one with a bit more pages is monster of rokugan (112).

They are costly, but it's their choice, and I don't think that it will change: perhaps those book are outside the d20 norm for price, but they are well in the norm for RPG price.

The d20 market is a bonus for AEG not the end (otherwise they would have thrown away the roll&keep system for L5R and 7th sea).

That is IMHO

They have their own boards. I want an explanation here so that people who don't visit the AEG boards will find out the reasons also.
They have posted very recently here. It is the reason I finally posted my concern here.

I don't think this is true. I bet it is more successful than they thought. They came out with Living Spycraft. AEG has been very supportive of the Spycraft line.

With d20 Modern just coming out, you would think they would want to keep reasonable prices to stay competative.

Peace and smiles :)

I can't comment on their Rokugan or Spycraft books. In only bought the Core Spycraft book (which was great) and I prefer medieval Chinese to Rokugan so I never went down those lines. But in glancing throught he Rokugan books thay seemt o be filled with great art and stuff....

Their One word D20 books, however, are well worth the Price of Admission.

Plus Swashbuckler was worth it as well.

I guess I am not of the philosophy that X amount of pages should equal X amount of Dollars. If a product is really good, I am willing to spend a little more for it.

I pay for quality for over quantity.

I like AEGs work.

So does AEG think their earlier Spycraft products aren't as good in quality as what they just recently put out?

Peace and smiles :)

I think that they base their page count on the expected number of sales, some product are more or less focused, and thus have more or less cutomer

even if they get more sales than expected, it still less than the main book, for exemple almost no one speaks of secret of the lion or vilains of theah.

While the arms & equipment book is almost a must have for the game, right?

They do? Where?

I have some comments/complaints to make about skills in the Mercenaries book and I was wishing there was an official AEG web-forum. But I don't think I've ever seen a link to a forum on their website.

So AEG figures that their sales will continue to decrease for Spycraft. That they will not gain any new players. If the first product that a person comes across for Spycraft is Hand of Glory, I think they might not become interested once they see how expensive it is.

The Modern Arms Guide is not a must have. But it is a nice addition. The pictures of the weapons are good, but I wish there was a picture for every one. The rest of the artwork is not good at all.

It looks like they only have forums for Spycraft/Shadowforce Archer.
