[Alderac Entertainment Group] Prices

Let me just say that I think Spycraft is a freakin' amazing game. Even at $25, I'll be buying most of those, because the design and production value make them worth it to me. I might not get Hand of Glory at that price... but the others I'm likely to pick up.

Ahh, Spycraft. AEG, you did a good job with that one.

Hmmm. That is pretty expensive. Do they have covers by famed Heavy Metal artist Lorenzo Spwhatever or are they in color like Bastion Press's stuff?

AEG sure did. Now I wish I could get someone else be the Game Control so I can play an agent once in a while.

If you're looking for pictures of guns, go to www.securityarms.com. It's the best single site for gun pics that I know of.
Thanks Chris.

The covers are awesome. Of the Spycraft products I have, they are all done by
Veronica V. Jones.

Peace and smiles :)

I don't buy Spycraft, but I have bought all the Rokugan books, the Swashbuckling Adventures books (all 2, so far), and most of the "Word" books (I skipped War).

Both Creatures of Rokugan and Fortunes & Winds clock in at 112 pages.

IMO, you can't beat the quality. The price was a little offsetting at first, but the consistency of quality in the Rokugan & SA lines more than makes up for it (The "Word" line is improving alot too). I like knowing something I buy is good before I spend time reading, and have to go through the hassle of reselling it. Admittedly, Bastion Press pulls off high quality, full color, and 96 pages at $24.95, but I wonder how much closer to the edge of profitability they're running.

Cheers
Nell.

I for one am not going to complain about a few extra dollars, especially spent on such fantastic material!

Think about it this way. AEG, I am sure, wants to remain competitive. Do you think they look at the priceof their books and say to each other, "Nah, that's too low. We can gouge them a little more."?

I seriously doubt it. You aren't taking into account the companies operating expenses or anything else besides prices from OTHER publishers.

I for one would rather have Spycraft material at a little higher price than no Spycraft at all.

That's why I think the prices for the latest Spycraft products are too expensive. They aren't in color.

But most of the art in Bastion Press products don't deserve to be in color, let alone be published.

I agree. But if people don't buy the products because of the high prices then there will be no more Spycraft.

Peace and smiles :)

Every product since in the Spycraft line has had a lower page count but for the same price. I am disappointed that I won't be an AEG customer anymore.

And don't even get me started on your Game Control Screen and Agent Record Sheet Pack.

Perhaps the discrepancy in price is driven by freelance, printing, shipping, and distributor fees? The folks at AEG might have changed printers, endured higher art and writing fees, and so on. Maybe their distributor changed the terms of their agreement, taking a deeper cut out of their profits?

I'd consider these likely reasons, as opposed to, "Let's stick it to our customers."

Or it could be a result of them knowing that they make a good product. Let's face it, they have complete control of three popular lines (the one-word series, Rokugan, and Spycraft) and can thus charge whatever they want for them. I've not been disappointed with a product of theirs yet (though I never bought the Spycraft GC screen), and as long as I like what I'm paying for, I'll continue to support AEG with my wallet.
