That's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
No, no. It's this. Except, you know, aliens instead of dragons. ;)

Hopefully she doesn't mind uh, a fair bit of gore because whilst it's not super-dwelled on, there definitely a lot in episode 2.

But that said I watched Alien/Aliens at like 12/13 and it was fine so...

In anticipation of this show, I watched Alien and Aliens with my 11 year old and 7 year old. Dad of the year!!

The show is definitely off to a good start. I like the characters. The hybrid characters genuinely seem like kids, particularly Wendy. Stdney Chandler does a great job. I’m not sure exactly what made Hawley decide to use Peter Pan in such ways… but it seems like a good move thematically.

Looking forward to more. And you mentioned lore in one of your posts… I personally hope they don't feel too bound by lore. The uncertainty is one of the things that make the xenos so scary. The intro of the new aliens helps put some mystery back into things… but I don’t mind at all if they treat the xenomorphs similarly.

I am curious if the fact that so much of what we have seen in media so far is "media from 100+ years ago"....if that is just a quirk of these people or does that speak to a cultural stagnation? aka stuff nowadays is crap and so people prefer the shows of the ancient times?

Or...maybe even the concept of watching shows is so outdated that the only ones available are from 100 years ago.

Closing out Episode 2 with Tool?

Xenomorphs... and Tool?

I'd describe my reaction, but I don't want to get banned for a NSFW post...

Enjoying this so far to say the least.
That ep 2 ending sequence got me so excited for ep 3...and as someone who thought they'd "outgrown" Tool (short-sighted and elitist, I know) my elation at the scene, song and forward momentum was A LOT.

As a fan of the Alien universe since watching the first movie at age 10 or so, I'm loving the series so far.

There's seemingly something odd going on there. The flashbacks are also to them and the father seemingly wearing 1950s/1960s clothing (and the furniture looks old-fashioned too), which raises even more questions. Also how young is Joe, exactly? Like, 18? 20? He only seems a few years older than his sister in flashbacks, but she's 12 now, and I think that's counting time as a robot. He sure doesn't look 18 which makes sense given Alex Lawther (the actor) is 30! Still he checks stuff with her so her memories can't be entirely made up.

Their dad is definitely odd to name his son Joe DiMaggio in like 2100 and given characters seem to have "on the nose" names, and their surname is "Hermit", presumably the father was virtually a hermit from modern society?

Speaking of flashbacks, I am curious if we're going to see any flashback sequences to what happened onboard the Maginot that ultimately led to its crashing. I get the impression that as the show reveals more about the cyborg Morrow, we'll get at least glimpses of the fate of different crew members. They spent too long setting the scene with the Maginot's crew IMO to not let the audience see more of them.

Speaking of the Maginot crew, their scenes were some of the best for setting the atmosphere for me. In an interesting deviation from Alien, this crew (which thanks to @Ruin Explorer I now know launched decades before the Nostromo) knows they have a (creepy) synthetic on board if I followed the dialog correctly in that scene. Perhaps because it was a 65 year mission, they were more forthcoming about having an "awake" crew member for the entire trip.

Great show though, I'm really curious to see where they take it!
