Funny thing is, I was more starstruck by the faces of the scientists I recognized than by the concept of the movie itself. ;)

Thanks for the heads-up; I'll have to check this out.

I'm excited about it. But I'm a little miffed that they aren't giving enough credit to the person who originated the idea. This special is based on the 1990 book "Expedition" by Wayne Douglas Barlowe. Barlowe is barely mentioned on Discovery's website, and no credit at all is given for the book that I could find.

Barlowe's artwork is awesome. Fans of truly "alien" aliens should check out the book if you can find a copy (don't know if it's still in print).

A friend of mine gave me a copy of Expedition for my birthday a few years ago. As a former Biology major, I loved the book. As soon as I saw an ad for this on Space.com, I flipped out! I could instantly recognize Barlowe's work.

I thought the same thing: Why didn't they give more recognition to Barlowe?

Can't wait to see this. I'll be out of town this weekend so I'll have to tape it. Or get it from p2p...

This looks pretty cool. I'm not familiar with Barlowe's Expedition book, but he did a great job on Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestials way back when.

You know, I can't think of much better commentary than "Cool".

One thing I definitely liked was the design of the two probes. Though, really, I liked all the designs...just...cool. At least with Dinosaurs and Dragons I could comment on things not being like I would have expected/etc. Can't really do that with Alien Planet. :)
