D&D 3E/3.5 Alienist[3.5] - Complete Arcane - Any Changes?

The required feat has changed from Alertness to Augment Summoning (which has a prerequisite, Spell Focus:Conjuration, that they fail to mention. Sloppy.)
I wouldn't call that sloppy. I think it's cleaner to leave the nested prereqs out of the PrC list.

It's entirely possible that some third-party class grants Augment Summoning as a bonus feat, without requiring Spell Focus. A character of that class should be able to become an Alienist, because Augment Summoning is the important bit; Spell Focus on its own has less to do with the concept of the PrC.

An odd change to the phobia. I don't even think those across-the-board penalties for those skills will come up as often as even the commonest of phobias (like 'feathered wings')

At the very least, it'd mess up my current Alienist, whom through a generous house rule can use Diplomacy and Lesser Planar Binding to qualify for the Thaumaturgist class (usually divine classes only).

As an aside, in 3.5, as well as using LIving Greyhawk's changes to the DR for the Alienist in 3.5, we did this for the phobia:

Instead of gaining Toughness at...4th with the phobia, gain DR 1/-. At 8th, or whatever, gain DR 2/-. The pre-req feat became Great Fortitude.

Anyway.
