Alignment: Seeking Additional Writers [Closed]

First Post
Campaign Options: Alignment is a PDF that has been in the works for over a year now and has been perhaps one of the most difficult things that I've ever tried to work on. And so, while I am able to transfer the thoughts on this difficult topic into words, I am looking for additional writers to provide additional insight/opinions/topics to expand this project into more than a single designer's ideas.

The purpose of Campaign Options: Alignment is to take apart the overly simplified page-and-a-half description of the nine alignments and put them back together using more detail. This is designed for two purposes: first, to provide better information to answer questions such as "Can I do that with this alignment?"; second, the expand the role of alignment as a universal force in the D&D game, beyond just morality and guidelines. However, with the numerous alignment threads that have appeared throughout EN World, it is quite obvious that the ideas and thoughts may be too single-minded. The goal is to provide possibilities into an extended alignment system, rather than provide an absolute version, but I do feel that this project will benefit from extra insights.

Each additional author will be required to complete a certain amount of additional material (mainly in the form of sidebars) for each chapter and section of the PDF. Authors will be chosen for their viewpoints on alignments, as the main goal is to provide further options on this expansion than those created by the core author, myself. As it stands, each additional author will be offered 10% of all final sales for the project with a maximum of 4 additional authors brought on board. Input on the core material is also appreciated to improve the product. All additional authors will be given front page credit on the PDF and will be listed in alphabetical order.

Interested parties are asked to submit a 500 word essay on any particular aspect of alignment or to provide a link to any thread/website/other publication in which a sample of your viewpoint was posted.

If you are interested or have any further questions on this open call, please don't hesitate to contact me at warden@emeraldpress.net[/email]]warden@emeraldpress.net. You can also read some details on the Campaign Options: Alignment project here.

I have some interesting thoughts on alignment. It's been a while since I've written, but I'll give the 500 words a shot if you're still looking.

Well, I'd post my stuff on here, but I based my alignment descriptions off the Palladium rpg. I created profiles for Lawful Neutral and True Neutral, but the rest is almost verbatim from the palladium rules.

Maybe I'll write something up for you though, that isn't dependent on another system, since I'm always looking to provide better descriptions for alignment and such.

Well, okay, I'll provide you with the document, just so you can have a look at what I've done... here.

Okay, so that provides me with how you would describe the alignment system as a whole, but this project is looking to expand it even further. What I'm looking for in supporting authors is an extra point-of-view on certain issues, some of which may not be generally used in an RPG/D&D reality, but are expressed to make a point and demonstrate the possibilities that come with playing these alignment combinations.

Veritas, if you can take a particular aspect of the alignment (i.e. one combination in particular or a specific example of a situation and how various alignments would react to it), I would like to see that in order to properly gauge your opinions for this project. You have a good writing style, but I'd like to see a more detailed take on the matter.

Check out the Alignment page on the Emerald Press site for some ideas and examples posted to date.

Hey Warden. I'm currently working on something, but I've been hella busy at work, so it's been going slow. I have more time off now, so hopefully I should have it done before the weekend.
cheers
