Alone In The Dark - Uwe Boll Strikes Back

So, basically, the only thing that makes it have something in common with Alone in the Dark is the name of the main hero, Edward Carnby.

Yes, the Penny Arcade strip is appropriate.
Yea, but is that the director's fault, or the screenwriter's? I'm not familiar with the credits on these movies in either case; maybe Boll does both, but it's entirely possible that he's being blamed for material that isn't his.

"The three stars have seen better days, but I'd like to think they could still do something classier and more dignified than this. Like gay porn."

D'oh! That's pretty harsh. I'd like to read the whole review. :D Who wrote it?

Have to agree there are a lot of people that can screw with a picture and they are all thanked when they hand out the little awards but we may be seeing something like Catwoman, screenplay re-writes, lack of chemistry in actors, poor script, producers with too much say, actors with too much say, sorry assed editors...sorry, I thought a director was to control all that! Don't get me wrong, I am not sure how much control a director has in the making but it just seems he should have control over the product. :heh:

Where did you hear that the director has control over all that? If anything, that's more the Executive Producer's role. Boll did not write the screenplay, and I don't know how much control he had in making potential changes to it.

Granted, it's a bit confused by directors that effectively take on other roles (Lucas as Executive Producer, for instance, in the Star Wars movies, or Peter Jackson who is also shares a writing credit on the Lord of the Rings movies) but normally the director is not that involved in the writing of the screenplay.

What is this 'the works of Homer' gone bad is what i wonder, the whole developed schemes etc have this mass intricate go get'em but the choppy cinematics, and wording like a bafoon comic book writer gone stupid threw the movie out the damn window

The incredible cavern or tomb for these creatures was rivaled with LOTR trilogy looks, very fine work, however misplaced becuase the whole darn movie is

As I said I don't know how much control a director has, less than I would have thought, just being a hiring ;) This is about the failure of Hollywood.

It depends on the movie, and on the director, but yeah; at one extreme end, the director is just a guy, like anyone else on the movie, hired to actually supervise the shots and the film editing, and little else.

But yeah, your last sentence is probably pretty true. I think thats certainly true about a movie like Catwoman, wherein the final product is the result of a committee of suits who know (and care) little about the actual art of movie-making.

ZE this...beautiful...Ze true nature of the madness.

On the Screen Savers forum, someone posted that Uwe Boll's official website has been hacked. Now, I've never been to Boll's site, so I don't know if this is the address or not, but the URL provied was:

http://www.uweboll.com/

If that is the official site, it might be fixed before you can check the link. If you missed it, all it shows now is a white page with the words:

please stop making movies.
