In my campaign, I've tried to tone down on the number of character classes. I don't have much use for the wilder or the soulknife, and the psion and erudite are almost the same class already. To incorporate the revised and expanded psionics into my campaign, I decided to combine the psion and the erudite into a single class (which is balanced well enough when you also use a spell point based system for spellcasters), and to replace the psychic warrior with a 15-level Unearthed Arcana style prestige class that parallels the prestige bard, paladin, and ranger. In honor (memorium?) of AD&D 2nd Edition and Alternity, I chose to call these classes the psionicist and the battlemind.
The Psionicist
• All the same stats and class features as the psion, except as follows:
• Psionicists choose thier key ability at 1st level, deciding whether their powers stem from their intellect (Int), intuition (Wis), or emotion (Cha).
• Psionicists learn and manifest their powers just like erudites do, but they have a discipline like a psion. The psionicist's "psionic strength" represents a limit on unique powers per day, but unlike the erudite's, the psionicist's is not segregated by power level.
The Battlemind (Requirements)
• Base Attack Bonus +4.
• Autohypnosis 2 ranks, Concentration 4 ranks, Psicraft 6 ranks.
• Combat Manifestation feat.
• Must be able to manifest 1st-level psionic powers.
