Alternate type system

VelvetViolet

I did some googling recently and came across an alternate type system. Creatures are each given one of several Supertypes, Body types, Mind types, and Soul types each that determine their metaphysical biology. While I find the system for keeping track of multiple types of hit dice confusing and needlessly complex, the concept of these types I find a much better alternative to the arbitrary type distinctions given in the SRD.

What does anyone else think?

It always bugs me when there are creatures basically indistinguishable from humans, but are somehow not Humanoid. Elans are a good example of this: "Human with psychic powers" is not enough to make someone an Aberration.
