Somehow, our wizard-types almost always end up with more hit points than the frontline-types.

Caster stat, CON, dump the rest, seems to be how it goes.
We had a dwarf wizard that was the main frontline fighter, and had the most hit points, best AC, best attack and damage rolls (when buffed), and still had half of his prepped spells just for escape.
He took a feat instead of a familiar, even though it probably would've been able to hold its own, considering how many spells he could've shared with it.

The Psion was even worse, and his rock had as many hit points as the average of our frontliners. I think he absorbed around 480+ damage in one round and survived, though his rock croaked. The NPC was specifically designed to one-shot the healer in the surprise round, win initiative, and then kill one character each round. :\

My dwarf wizard had a 20 Con and a toad familiar. When my wizard got knocked to dieing the toad held off a Dire Rat until the party got there to kill the rat and save him. Familiars are great!

Doesn't a 1d2-2 damage still do at least 1 point of damage with a successful attack?
