Its still slander, express the need for more shipping needs to them. Say you wont order from them again, but if you say they cant be used because of another companies procedures its going to effect their business.

A better guess would be that they are under-capitalized like most online stores and thus don't have the products you're ordering in stock. So they wait to order from their distributor after they get your order. Then ship it to you.

They do appear to be tied in with the brick and mortar store Wizards Toy Chest, which is where my order shipped from, so they should be sitting on some inventory. Also, they said they were out of one of the books I had ordered (DCC #6: Temple of the Dragon Cult), which I don't think is sold out yet.

Actually slander is verbal, you can't be sued for slander of the written word, that is libel. Secondly, to successfully sue, you prove damages from the slander or libel and prove the (written) words were untrue.

A lawyer may tell you different, but his/her rate isn't free. :p

No it isn't.

Everything Ken said was factually accurate.

While an argument can be made that he is directing his ire at the wrong target...it is hardly slander.

You certainly do have a right to your option and to express your option. If (as you insist) DiscountRPG is to blame, don't shop there. Be advised that there are no laws that tell retailers which forms of shipping they must offer--it's up to the consumer to check the available options and make the decision. I could understand the upset if the shipping method actually chosen was UPS or FedEx; if one opts for the USPS, well, one gets the USPS.

There are numerous online retailers who offer different options of shipment; I suggest you check them out.

This is, as others have stated, an issue with the shipping company and not the retailer. Perhaps, given the accounts posted here, the retailer should consider posting a note on their shipping page alerting the buyer to the possability of delays. I would completely expect a deep discounter to use the most affordable method of shipping possible as their default (or only) shipping method. It preserves the discount. Perhaps they should look into additional shipping options, although they may feel they are doing enough business without the hassle of dealing with additional carriers.

If you can't wait for the books, try another retailer. I buy pretty much exclusively from Amazon. The books are almost always discounted and, even though sites like buy.com offer deeper discounts, Amazon usually has the best price once shipping is figured in. And the free shipping option still usually gets to my door on the 2nd day after I get the shipping confirmation.

Not slander. Maybe the guy is inaccurate in his statements but it is hardly actionable. (OK, I fess up - I'm a lawyer).

Besides, there are better targets to be angry at than either the shipper or Discount RPG. Anyone who has had dealings with New Wave knows that they are far worse with their operation.*

*Not slander. Honest opinion.

This is all very well but I'd hate to think that they would lose business because of you expressing your opinion - which does seem slightly misguided. I'd hate to think as well that your motives in posting this thread were malicious - which the title "Don't buy from Discount RPG" leads towards. Being in business myself, it just does not sit well that someone could slag off your business unfairly - although very little in the world is truly "fair". If you had have discussed your beef with them first and got no further response, your criticism would have more credence. As it stands...

PS: I gather it could have been a lot worse. Your books could have just mysteriously disappeared in transit.

I ordered some Spycraft CCG stuff off of Discount RPG and was very pleased with the results. Took a little while for the order to be processed but once it was the cards got to me in just a few business days. In fact, it does say on the page that orders to the East Coast could require shipping times of 8 or more days. Or maybe up to 8 days, either way.

Hear, hear! I have to say that New Wave is the ONLY online retailer with whom I've had any trouble with whatsoever (& this includes hundreds of eBay transactions).

Maybe this is too late in coming, but d20books.com could use some bidney (not affiliated with said operation--just a happy customer sad to see a good dealer on the verge of not renewing its URL).
