Am I Crazy? Help me find an article

I was thinking about some of the Dragon Magazines I used to read back in the day, and I could swear that I remember one particular article - I believe it was in the "Ares" section (back when Dragon used that) and was part of one of the April Fool's issues. The article itself was a humorous look at Space Marines for Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 game and concerned a group of Marines who went around performing interpretive dance to entertain other chapters throughout the galaxy. I clearly recall some of Jim Holloway's rather funny artwork illustrating the article itself. Please help me! Am I insane? Does such an article exist, and if so, where?

As an aside, I'm also struggling to remember where I saw the "Dwarven Thane" prestige class in a more recent Dragon Magazine as part of some computer game article.

Any assistance is very appreciated!

sorry i'm not much help...but the dwarf stuff i remember was in Dragon 278.

as for the Ares April fool's stuff... again i'm not much help.

are you sure it wasn't a White Dwarf magazine considering the GW stuff?

Well, drat. I guess I must be nuts. I could've sworn up and down that I saw this article somewhere in my misspent youth. Perhaps I just dreamed about it. Last call for anyone to confirm or deny my sanity! Please help!

The article you mentioned exists, I just can't remember which issue it was in. Ask the Ares/Alternity experts at www.alternity.net.

Cheers!

Dragon #204 (April 1994) had "Dance Steps For GW's Space Hulk Game" by Allen Varney, which did feature a Jim Holloway painting. It wasn't in the Ares section, though.

Representative snippets:

"The SPACE HULK Recreator squad combines the finest warrior skills with the sharp sense of rhythm and lively humor needed to entertain the galactic empire’s armies. The Recreators brave Genestealer strongholds to slaughter and amuse, wreak havoc and provoke a sigh. In short, the Recreators enter Genestealer Space Hulks and dance, just to prove they can. A squad’s broadcasts to Space Marine chapters throughout the Imperium demonstrates its courageous triumphs over the enemy."

"Pirouette: The Marine rotates 360° at a cost of 4 APs. Pirouette and fire costs the same, and a Marine who is not carrying another Marine can make up to three attacks while turning—one at 90°, one at 180°, and one at 270°. Sustained fire bonuses do not apply."

"Snap fingers: Free; however, a Marine can normally snap his fingers no more
than four times per turn. Additional 'Snap fingers' actions cost 1 AP each. A Marine with an assault cannon, heavy flamer, or other two-handed weapon cannot 'Snap fingers' during a firing action."
