Round 0

Kim wasn’t going to sleep late today. She arose with the sun, knowing the others would likely be up, too. She looked down at Maggie sleeping on the floor beside her bed.

Slipping from her bed, she went to the kitchen and got a cup of coffee. Returning to her room, she opened the curtains and looked out over the suddenly quiet, empty city. Standing in her pajama pants and tank top, the teen hugged herself with one arm and sipped her coffee.

“Stay safe, dad,” she murmured.

The Shadow
Centropolis Plaza
Saturday, February 11, 2017/Noon
Round 0

Caleb had set himself up halfway up an abandoned office tower. When he arrived, he broke the lock on a janitorial closet to provide a nice, dark space for him, and then went to the tinted window looking out over the plaza. Sitting quietly in an office chair, he sipped coffee and watched the area, trying to determine if Dr. Apocalypse’s minions were already in place or not. No word came from the rest of the team once they were in place, so they weren’t seeing anything.

And then the AEGIS comms erupted in chatter and Caleb stood quickly, tossing his coffee into the garbage. He gaped as the huge robot descended on the plaza.

“My God…” Shadow murmured. That was not what he expected.

Initiative: 1D20+6 = [13]+6 = 19

Caleb touched his comm. “Everyone check in!” he called. Of course they were seeing it. It would be hard to miss! “See if you can get it on the ground. I’m going to try and get inside,” he told the team.

Dashing into the closet, Caleb disappeared into the shadows.

"That," said Kitsune reverently, "would be so cool...if it wasn't going to kill us."

It reminded her a lot of the storm. Hopelessly big and overblown; the tool of someone who didn't just want to get something done, but IMPRESS people while doing it. And like the storm, it begged a lot of questions. Who had the resources to build something like that? And to do what, just do some damage and scare people? Besides, Doc Apoc had as much as admitted he expected this thing to fall.

But of course, it'd take all the supers to do it, right? Which meant they wouldn't be doing anything else.

The robot was a ways from where Kitsune was. Even if she jumped off the building and sprinted, it would take her ages to get there. Maybe taking a little extra time now was a better idea.

She looked around, away from the huge robot, searching for something out of place. A car moving in an evacuated city. A helicopter coming in. Anything that might indicate that there was more to this situation than just a big gladiatorial combat with a titanium titan.

Perception! [roll0]

And if that scores a 16 or less, I will use an HP: [roll1]

(...hee, worth it.)

Felix was nearly Swatted by the thing as it shot past him and impacted the plaza.
It was charging what Felix assumed was a laser, but it could be something else, and if it was something explosive, he was about to ruin its day.
If it was a plain old laser... then he was going to annoy, and maybe wast its effort.

From atop a floating slab of range light, a large metallic figure clamped its hands together, locked its fingers around each other and then started to pull them apart, Torrents of energy crackled and shot this way and that! Unheard by all was the unending expletives from the fur covered pilot.
Hold Robo!: 1D20+14 = [2]+14 = 16

Orange bolts crackled from palm to palm, trying to form something in between before shooting past and impacting the other hand, over and over. Straining metal resounded from each impact as the Suit's arms were forced apart in surges; the suit's primary generator struggling to enforce the reaction while containment continued to dwindle.
[OoC; Hero point! o_O;]

Metal hands were strained apart from one another; just before the braking point, the auxiliaries kicked on. A strangled shape started to crystallize between the figure's hands as they inch towards one another.
It's larger twin came into being around the Colossus's head.
Heroic Stabilization!!: 1D20.MIN(11)+14 = [13]+14 = 27

The globular shape of spaghetti like orange energy twisted and contorted as it was forced into order: the strands becoming hexagons forming a spherical frame work. Vents along the suit's back flared open as the sinks took their loads before forcibly venting.
The errant energy was gathered between the Suit's closing palms: the metallic figure's hands closed with an anti climatically soft grinding of metal on metal as the sphere around the Giant's head hardened fully into the 3th dimension.

Supplementary vents on the mech's limbs opened and hissed to life as the mech's shell shimmered with junk heat

Meanwhile, Felix was glad he did not skip on the AC, and also that he was the only one who could see the suit's self diagnostic during that.
The number and importance of systems that peaked on, near, or past their red lines was simply staggering; He was also happy no one could see how over fluffed all the static in the mecha made him.
Sub Reactor three auto ejected high above the suit and blew up into harmless debris with a pop; catastrophic failure at 113% percent expect out pout, Noted.

[sblock=OoC]Action: Initiative 38, Create sphere around the big guy's head.
Used Hero point for reroll.
Also, did the old Hero points roll over?[/sblock]

As the giant robot falls out of the sky, Felix in his giant robot suits of his own (although nowhere near as large as the one that just fell out of the sky), launched himself into the sky and with the clap his gauntleted hands, created globs of energy around the enormous head!

Silver Streak raced down the building he was on and up around the doomsday machine at lightning speed. He noticed lots of strange technology all over the thing but was not sure what it all meant or what it was for. There were smaller ports opening in the chest and on each of the three arms. He glanced into one and it appeared to be some advance looking blaster cannons. He also notice that his normal movement that often burned the surfaces that he ran across was have little or no effect on the robots metallic hide. He also could not get at the head as it seemed to have been suddenly covered in some kind of energy shield, and he was sure it was not there only a moment before. On one of his last loops around the giant, he noticed something on its lower back – about where one’s spin would attached to one’s hip in a human – it kind of looked like it might be an access door but it was partially covered by a secondary hatch of some kind.

Still on Centurion Tower (and still invisible), Kitsune scanned the area for anything out of place. At first nothing seemed to odd (except for the giant robot in the middle of the street smashing stuff), but then she caught of flash of light reflecting off something metallic. Looking closer she say what appeared to be a small disc shape object, maybe a meter across, and flying up above the rooftops of most of the Central Plaza’s skyscrapers. It almost looked like some kind of advanced drone but she could see no propulsion system or other details. It was simple a metal disc floating in the air above her.

Princess Starlight calls on her magic and blasts at the giant robot’s body, but her beam seems to bonus off harmlessly. She then kicks off the building to fly some hundred feet above the ground on glowing wings of light.

The Shadow disappears and reappears in the shadow of one of the giant robot’s arms…

Which suddenly lifts to grab the energy field around its head! While it rips some of them off the barrier remains!!! “UPDATE STATUS. RESISTANCE DETECTED. RESISTANCE PRIORITY ONE. DESTORY RESISTANCE. DESTROY!” the speakers on the robot boom, when suddenly a gun port on the creature’s right arm shots Felix square in the chest! Another one located in the robot’s chest area appearance and shots Princess Starlight!!!!

GM: Initiative
38 – Felix
24 – Silver Streak
23 – Kitsune
20 – Princess Starlight
19 – The Shadow
15 – Doomsday Robot

[sblock=Rolls and Results]Felix uses his Create item to up it around the robot’s head. The robot gets a Dodge save vs. DC 19, Dodge save: 1D20 = [3] = 3, fails so it is around its head. Note the description under the Create power that says that in order for this power cause a blindness or something it would need that to be added as Extras so it does not stop it from seeing.
Silver Streak moved around it. The robot has an Impervious Toughness of 16, which means that ignores any Damage of 8 or less.
Kitsune saw the strange disc with the hero point roll
Princess Starlight’s attack is below the 8 Impervious and so it ignore it.
The Shadow teleports to the robot. You need an Athletics check or something similar to remain attacked to its’ side or you have a chance of falling off. Its’ only a DC 10 to hang on, and a 15 to start climbing. If the robot starts moving around, its’ running around the DC increases by +5, if it falls or is tripped, etc. the DC is +10

The Doomsday robot uses its action with a Strength attack to try and tear off the items around its head. As it’s not really a grab I am going to roll that while it is trying to pull the created objects off, it is damaging them like Damage Object with its Strength. Inanimate objects are Defenseless and subject to Finishing Move (+5 Damage). The barrier needs a Toughness save vs. DC 36 Toughness save: 1D20+9 = [16]+9 = 25, so it is still attached but has a -1 to future rolls.
Then the port guns that Silver Streak saw pop out. One shots at Felix and one shots at Princess Starlight, in that order. Attack vs. Dodge Defense: 1D20+8 = [11]+8 = 19; 1D20+8 = [14]+8 = 22, ow they both Hit. Both Felix and Princess Starlight need to make Toughness saves vs. DC 21
NOTE alert, this is obvious NOT something that an opponent should be able to do. You will discover why shortly of course.

OOC: Previous round:
Toughness save DC 21 [roll0] she is at -1 toughness

The robot's blast causes a slight scrape to her arm.

The Princess grits her teeth and swoops back down toward the ground where she announces: "Chiromantic Flashing Force" with a forward thrust her palm strikes at the robot. Somehow she manages to flub her palm strike spell, Her hand weakly taps against the robot's shell without the power of light behind it. "Donuts, I missed."

The slight scrape has already healed over as she whispers a silent thanks to the sun.

OOC: This round:
regeneration +1 toughness
Palm strike: check required DC 15 [roll1] fails to activate power
close attack vs parry [roll2] ignored (and should only have been +5, not that it matters now.)

Silver Streak continues to run around on the robot, focusing on the hatch on the it's rear. He tries to get a sense of the electrical/electronic mechanisms around the hatch, hoping there's an electronic lock he can manipulate. He also calls out over the radio, "This is Silver Streak. I think I've found an access point in the rear pelvic region."
