Well, this is odd.
There's now a section under Books-->Sci-fi & Fantasy-->Games--> D&D on Amazon Best Sellers.
The 2014 PHB is still there, below a few third party books at #6. Daggerheart is at #15
900 bought 2014 PHB in the last month. There's no data on Amazon for 2024

That's because the 1014 books are not categorized as books in Amazon catalog, but toys.

We have deduced this has something to do with WotC nipping Amazon underselling other retailers in the bud.

No, the oddity is that 2014 (i'm assuming you meant 2024, but it's hard to tell) is outselling Daggerheart.

It's not the same but Amazon US has a note about the Hero's of the Borderlands selling 7k from them in the last month.

That is interesting.

It is really weird now looking at the best selling Dungeons & Dragons books section now thst all the new D&D books are not "books" in distribution terms any more. Poking around, I found more reason to be skeptical of modern Amazon's categories, feels like some AI hallucination enshitifcstion is occuring:

And the top three books for "Savage Worlds" are...not Savage Worlds, at all, but for three entirely different systems:

Daggerheart seems to be doing well as a book, though, it'salso higher on the Pathfinder list than anything published by Paizo (the top Pathfinder spots are 3rd party 5E products):
