Amazons rankings for book sales are based primarily on sales, with a bit on conversion. Conversion is search to sale ratio. Large quanitity orders are not rated as high as low quanityt orders. So you couldnt buy 1000 units and boost sales by a huge margin. But it is reported that NYTimes Best Sellers game the system by funneling money to "purchasers" around the world who buy 1 or 2 copies, thus boosting rankings. High rankings equates to higher sales, so they find it profitable.
I doubt WOTC is doing this. So basic fact of matter is, if its ranked high, its selling high.
