[AMBIENT] Indy RPG Awards Finalists

HellHound

ENnies winner and NOT Scrappy Doo
Two of our products are now in the final voting round for the Indy RPG Awards for "Best use of the d20 License".

The Kid's Colouring Book of Critters and Thee Compleat Librum ov Gar'Udok's Necromantic Artes have both been nominated and have advanced to the final selection round!

Thanks everyone & the Indy RPG Awards!

You had to enter products in for the awards, Russ.

We chose to only enter in the two products that made it to the finals actually, as we feel that Gar'Udok is a very strong product, and that the Kid's Colouring Book is a fantastic piece of work showcasing some of the greatest benefits of the medium.

I duno.. if you go to the site there's a Link in size 30 font saying
BUY A VOTE HERE! (And add to that
"the price of buying votes has dropped phenomonally").

That's all kinda of dubious isn't it? I don't doubt the quality of Ambient's products. Necro is great and looks to be the strongest of the nominees. And the category "Best use of d20 license" just fills me with skepticism.

Why? All of the nominees make good use of existing d20 material (although I haven't read "Deeds" so I can't say for certain with that one). I think it is a good thing to recognize a product that uses the OGL to its fullest. And I'm not just saying that because d20Zine! is a nominee.

Why not just Best d20 product?

But the thing that really ticks me off is the wording. Frankly, they seem to have contempt for their own awards.

I don't think it is contempt so much as this is the first year for these awards. This one person has taken it upon himself to attempt to bring recognition to independent games that would likely never get noticed. Obviously, there is much he can learn and will likely do so when next year's awards roll around (growing pains). Best to wait and see how this one turns out before condemning or damning the whole idea.

Perhaps, but isn't there a better way to put it than
BUY A VOTE HERE?

If he said:
Submit a Vote
and then explained that there was a fee I'd be less ticked off, and I might actually BUY A VOTE, as he so eloquently puts it.

I believe he's in the running for the Person of the Year awards. Let me guess who'll be the eventual winner in that cat...
