Amulet for Vampires

First Post
Hello,

A while back (almost 7 years) a player showed me an amulet for vampires/any undead with sunlight weakness or powerlessness so they would be protected from sunlight. They showed me the source book, I remember reading the quick of the explanation, and only a bit of the back story so it may be an artifact.

It cost a small fortune I believe it was in the 15,000GP range if that helps anyone.

I have checked all the 3.5 source material I have and may have over looked it.

Thank you in advanced for your help. If this was just a "false" item a player edited into the PDF well I have to give them a thumbs up lol.

Regards,

Gurtha

Libris Mortis has a feat called Endure Sunlight and a substance called Liquid Night.

(I realize that's not what you asked for, but in case it's useful...)

I wouldn't allow a vampire to survive in a Darkness (or even Deeper Darkness) spell during the day.
The same way that I wouldn't allow a vampire to be disintegrated with a Light or Daylight spell.

It isn't the brightness of the light that kills them.

Well I would...certainly isn't something very practical, and isn't something you can depend on forever, without investing to anti-dispelling etc etc.

The latter is in the rules. The former is in my opinion implied, since Darkness doesn't block light, only "radiate shadowy illumination" that makes light "incapable of brightening the area".

"Radiates shadowy illumination" is funny since it implies that if you cast Darkness in a pitch black area, you make it... brighter.

That's actually what it does. While it doesn't specify exactly how far you can see, it implies vision within the area. The Concealment it offers gives a 20% miss chance. Total darkness gives the same 50% that Blindness or Invisibility gives, so an area under Darkness or Deeper Darkness is in fact better illuminated than the legendary "inside of a black cat at midnight".

So....what happens when you cast Darkness over Deeper Darkness in a Dark Dungeon? You see 80% or 50% or 0%?
