Amusing recent auto-correction...

So I'm reading a recent (a few months ago, I think) book on demons today, and I come across this

"...then a portion of the DirecTV's essence is sent to fester on the mortal world..."

Heh. Should have been "Dretch", but that must have gotten autocorrected to "DirecTV". It's funny that it's dretch all the other times in the entry, but someone it got changed once.

DaWizard = damage

my hat of autocorrect and/or spellcheck for most rpg new made up words almost equals my hat of d02.

It had nothing to do with gaming, but I was on another message board talking about handguns. I had posted something about carrying a particular kind of gun cocked, and the board's autocorrect changed it to penised.

Good thing you didn't talk about going off half-cocked; that would have been painful. :D

I once had a girlfriend whose name autocorrected to "Megadeath Hellcats." Which turned out to not be that far from reality. Maybe it was sign that I should have headed earlier than I did.

That was a great read Q. I'll keep my eye out for ninja text replacement in the future.

One thing I hate about so many Microsoft produts (which has crept into other companies as well, notably Adobe) is their propensity for doing things automatically without telling you, and with no obvious way to disable it.

gah. I was trying to write some sort of informal list the other day, and everytime I wrote C) it turned it into the copyright symbol. hitting backspace just deleted the symbol. And sometimes I don't WANT a word capitalized for whatever reason...

Just for general reference, in any of the Microsoft products, if the autocorrect screws up what you type you can hit control-Z (the undo key) and it'll undo the autocorrect.

A lot of people don't know that you can undo an autocorrect.

I once saw a website for an electric scooter called the Goblin. Apparently they originally called it the Elf but then changed their mind and did a massive search and replace on the page. Why do I think this? Because there were phrases like "you can do it yoursgoblin" and "sgoblin-propelled". :D
