Well written, and well said!

Of course my answer is a resounding NO. I'll also point out that the genesis of each new edition has very little to do with the quality of the preceding edition, and mostly to do with the nature of TTRPGs, the supplement treadmill, and the gamers who buy game books. Of course every edition has flaws that can be improved on, but at the end of the day it's a matter of business logistics.

It's an interesting enough read, but it proceeds from the mistaken premise that the announcement of 5e had anything to do with the mechanical foundations of 4e. The decision to proceed with a new edition was a business matter - whether because WotC felt 4e failed, or because they simply believed a new edition would sell better.

If 4e had used the same mechanics as F.A.T.A.L. but was selling like the early 80's, there's no way we'd be seeing a new edition so soon.

I won't delete it because it is at least on topic spam.
