At first, this creature resembles a great inferno of violet flame, not unlike a miniature star. Yet as you strain against the blinding light you can discern at the center of the radiance a creature akin to a slenderly muscular man, but with discreet fangs and talons, upon whose head rests a double crown of onyx. Six great feathered wings arch from his back, catch the light, and shimmer like corrupted eldritch rainbows. His countenance, at once both frightening and noble, he exudes an aura of strength and confidence the likes of which you have never before witnessed. But it's his eyes you will never forget, burning violet eyes, filled with great sorrow.

Little is know about Azythrax, aside from his numerous titles and penchant for leaving disaster in his wake. In spite of this, this unholy creature is quite splendid to deal with, provided one has brought him a gift of some sort. Arrogant in the extreme he assumes that everyone who encounters him must give him a gift. Those who offer no gift are likely to be subjected to centuries of torture at the hands of his minions. Because of this, it is assumed that pride was the reason for his fall, in truth it was something simpler...despair. After witnessing the staggering loss of his beloved ophanim, he left Heaven forever.

Azythrax is perhaps the only angel to depart Heaven without having first been tempted by sin. It wasn't until after he left that he fell into such a trap. From the moment he left Heaven he became the target of the lower planes, who wanted nothing more than to ensure he would become one of them. Azythrax, not very trusting of anyone by this point, had grown bitter and lonely. And through much effort on the part of an outcast succubus, became her companion. Over time their bond grew into love, but this was to end with her untimely demise and his unforgiving wrath.

Azythrax, now more evil and pissed off than ever, began to wage a war against the Abyssal lords who conspired against him, a war that caught many innocents in the crossfire. In time he was defeated, though not slain. With no place to go, and enemies on all sides, Azythrax made his own realm, a demiplane of unimaginable beauty and horror. This realm, known as Azythraxus, touches all other planes of existance, allowing him access to all other planes of existance via a myriad of planar gates that only he can control.

Azythrax is Azythraxus, in every sense of the expression. This means that, amongst other things, Azythraxes has total control over the demiplane, although, unlike what is typical, the demiplane is an extension of Azythraxus's power, rather than Azythrax being the manifestation of Azythraxus. This, of course, leads to much confusion regarding the nature of Azythrax.

Azythrax is 6 feet tall and weighs 225.28 tons (450,560 pounds), due to his incredible density.

Combat

Azythrax will fight any who oppose him, for he has little in the way of tolerance.

Azythrax’s natural weapons and any weapons it wields are treated as evil-aligned and epic for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Anaretic (Su): As the angels of strength, when Azythrax scores a critical hit, half the extra damage should be treated as divine damage which can affect even those otherwise immune to critical hits (including anyone wearing armor of fortification).

Angelic Traits (First Choir - Fallen):

• Hit Dice change to d100’s. Maximum hit points per die. Total hit points always doubled (regardless of where they are).

• Clairaudience/clairvoyance over the entire layer. As well as darkvision and low-light vision.

• Immunities: Ability damage or drain, acid, cold, disease, electricity, energy drain, fire, paralysis, petrification, poison, sleep, stunning and death from massive damage. They are immune to non-epic magic and all abjuration, conjuration, enchantment, illusion, necromantic and transmutation magic from beings of equal or lesser power to themselves.

• Omnicompetent (Ex): Angels of the first choir know all skills and have maximum ranks in each.

• Protective Aura (Su): This aura acts as an octuple strength magic circle against good (+16 deflection and +16 resistance bonuses) and a anti-magic field (that doesn’t impede its magic) for anyone within its area of effect. Both effects have a radius of 5720 ft. (caster level equals angel’s Hit Dice). This aura can be dispelled (by epic magic), but the angel can create it again as a free action on its next turn.

• Spell-like Abilities (Sp): At will - astral projection, etherealness, greater teleport, plane shift, shapechange . Caster Level 157th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

Cosmic String (Ex): Azythrax can only be permanently destroyed by a being of equal or greater stature to himself. Otherwise he rejuvenates within 1d10 minutes of destruction.

Divine Fire (Su): When so desired Azythrax is wreathed in a brilliant violet flame tinged with darkness. This energy, also known as quintessence, or the fifth element deals divine fire damage. Anyone grappling with, or being struck by one of Azythrax’s natural weapons suffers an additional amount of divine fire damage equal to the base damage dice of the attack. If Azythrax scores a critical hit with its natural weaponry this damage is also doubled.

Divine Traits (Ex): Azythrax is effectively an elder one and as such add a +24 divine bonus to: armor class; attack rolls; checks (ability checks, caster level checks, skill checks, turning checks); difficulty class (for any special abilities, spell-like abilities, spells); initiative; saving throws and spell resistance.

Prismatic Visage (Su): In addition to his protective aura, when desired, Azythrax radiates a spectacular rainbow of color. Anyone within a 5720 ft. radius of Azythrax suffers the effects similar to being hit by a prismatic spray spell. The save DC is 133. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

Re-echoing Roar (Su): As a standard action Azythrax can bellow a cone of divine sonic damage with a range of 240 ft. Targets blasted by the attack suffer 66d100 (average 3333) damage and again every round thereafter until a miracle or wish spell is used to counter the effect. A limited wish spell will delay the repeating damage for 1 round/caster level. Azythrax can use this attack once every 1d2 rounds. Targets can make a Reflex save (DC 128) for half damage. If the save is failed the repeated damage cannot be saved against. The save DC is Constitution-based.

Regeneration (Su): Azythrax takes normal damage from good-aligned artifacts, and from epic spells or effects with the good descriptor.

Spell-like Abilities: At will - bigby's crushing hand, meteor swarm (DC 68), miracle; 3/day - living fire* (DC 69), rain of fire (DC 69), 2/week – vengeful gaze of god (DC 69). Caster Level 159th. The save DC is Charisma-based.

*As living lightning except fire instead of electrical damage.

Spells: As 66th-level Clerics (Caster Level 157th) with access to the domains of Evil and Strength. The save DCs are Wisdom-based.

Typical Cleric Spells Prepared (6/15/14/14/14/14/12/12/12/12); save DC 43 + spell level): Duplicates any 0-8th level divine spell or 0-7th level arcane spell using its miracle spell-like ability. 9th - gate (2), implosion, mass harm (4), storm of vengeance, summon monster IX (4).

Epic spells per day: (13)

Epic spells known: contingent resurrection, epic counterspell, epic mage armor, epic repulsion, epic spell reflection, greater ruin, kinetic control, let go of me, living fireball, mass frog, nailed to the sky, peripety, rain of fire, raise island, soul dominion, soul scry, spell worm, superb dispelling.

Possessions: Azythrax wears bracers of cosmic intervention .

Bracers of Cosmic Intervention (Minor Artifact)

Description: These artifacts are fashioned from the orichalcum tears shed by solar dragons. Their deep jet-black hue comes from the enchantments placed upon them.

Powers: These potent items automatically block the first two spells (including epic spells) used against the wearer each round. In addition, if the wearer so wishes these blocked spells are reflected upon every enemy within the spells range.

Since I assume your posting this purely for flavor, I have a question purely in the intrest of flavor: Why does God let people leave heaven? I mean after I let Satan go, I'd have a pretty strict "Anybody who falls, falls dead" policy.

Depends on which "god" you're referring to. Old testament....New testament...ect.

Not to mention it is a FACT...even in Christian lore...that not all angels in heaven serve god. Some are good angels that just so happen to reside in heaven.

Besides thilly...whoever said I was going by christianity's conception of angels and god. :)

Even if I was...whomever said GOD really gives a flip about fallen angels. I mean...according to christians all the angels could fall and he would still win. Hell...he gave lucifer dominion over the earth after lucifer fell. Sounds like HE/SHE/IT (God) is fairly forgiving.

Although this is pure discussion...we should avoid the topic of god in general since so many christians love to start flame wars over it. I wouldnt want to step on any more OVERLY sensitive toes.

I assumed we were speaking in terms of christianity (or perhaps judaism as well) when it reffered to choirs of angels.

In any event, I have a question. Supposed this guy is killed. What happens to his demi-plane? Suppose his demi-plane is destroyed/collapsed. What happens to him?

Maybe now that he has fallen and is Neutral Evil, this should be evil...

Apart from that, the base creature being macro-fine and this one being medium, shouldn't the grapple check be different? Or do the virtual size categories modify the grapple check? I'm a bit fuzzy with those rules to be honest. Same thing for space and reach. Environment should also be changed to Azythraxus I suppose.

Not much change to the monster apart from that, shouldn't some abilities be modified to reflect his fallen status?

yeah...good call on a couple of those..fixed now.

As for the demiplane...it doesn't collapse, it goes into remission like cancer. Azythraxus is much like a cancerous growth upon the multiverse. It might go into remission, but it will always return...and Athythrax can be revived each time it does. Id imagine it'd take a group of old ones to get rid of it.

Well in the Bible it talks about that when Satan fell he took 1/3 of the Angels with him.
So... that's a bunch. I figure a few aren't as arrogant as he, but were misled and often try to atone for their transgressions against the Heavenly Father, but y'know... can't. :D

So...nice write up.
