I'm not well versed in the 5E rules, so I can't really comment on your Avatar of Bane...

...but here's my Avatar of Bean:

Okay, I'm leaving. Sorry.

Thanks - I wasn't aware.

NPCs and Monsters can have whatever you want them too. Regardless though, that is just a guide for what abilities it might have.

Hence why I used archepriesr as a base.

Fighter/cleric type leaning towards domination effects imho. And black hand attacks.

4d19 danage on a CR12 seems fine but adding legendary abilities is to good?

I'll have 5 PCs reasonably well equipped with some legendaries, buffed with aid and temp HP.

Hard to say how well your specific party will do against this guy, only you know how high above the belt they can hit.

All we can say is you had statted this guy as a rough CR 15, and this guy is significantly higher than that on paper, and that is before even factoring in a nigh immunity to many spells.

I’ll be the first person to admit that high level groups tend to blow throw near CR monsters, so I often have to go overboard to provide real challenge. But you had thought CR 19 was about as high as you were willing to go with this guy in the OP. With that in mind you might need to take another look…this guy is a good bit higher than 19
