See the other thread titled '4dventure' for much speculation.

personally I don't care, I've got too much invested in 3.5 to drop it at this point with a new campaign starting an a matter of weeks.

Well, I don't want to get into an argument, but let me point out that my 8 year old daughter, while not having her own credit card, has looked at the Paizo site with me on several occassions while browsing the Bella Sara TCG, aimed at girls her age.

Now, I, as a responsible parent, can't take her to the the Paizo site anymore.

As for posting this on the Paizo boards, the original poster may not have an account on Paizo's message boards.

This is likely going to be slightly inflammatory, but I'm in that kind of mood and this is the thread to do it. If you choose to isolate her from everything in this world you disagree with, better just lock her in a windowless room now and toss the key.

OR, you could take this opportunity to discuss it with her, pointing out why you think it's wrong, and start instilling some values. There is nothing wrong with pointing out something you think is wrong, telling your child so, and voicing your expectations.

Hi everyone!

As probably the only Paizo person not at Gen Con who also occasionally comes to ENWorld, let me address some concerns here.

Our online store is based very heavily on the Alliance database. When a new product goes up on the Alliance database it also goes up in our store. This is an automated feature that we have little to no control over. It's extremely likely that nobody at Paizo even knew about this doll until I discovered this thread 5 minutes ago. It just goes up without our input.

That I discovered the thread at all is happenstance.

Firebeetle: If you are truly upset about this product I encourage you to let us know on our own messageboards, where our people frequently read and check in (including people who can remove items from the catalog). In fact, there is an entire section devoted to products we carry.

Whizbang Dustyboots is not wrong, though. An open letter to us works better on our messageboards, where we are far more likely to see it. Just for future reference, everyone. :)

Thanks! I hope we can resolve this issue peacefully and satisfactorily. :)

I will watch with interest, but they don't get me using a new edition until the end of the current campaign, which might be two years or more away.

Green Ronin's decision to go systemless with the new Freeport setting book turns out to be a perfect move.

Thanks for popping in Mike! A voice of reason at last . . . .

I've read this entire thread (why did I do that?) and I've come to a few conclusions:

1) Paizo not only wasn't aware of this product being on their site or email marketing, but even if they had known and picked it out themselves . . . . the doll DOES NOT PROMOTE drug use in any way shape or form . . . . the doll SATIRIZES drug use. If you can't tell the difference between promoting a thing and satirizing a thing, well, nothing any rational person can say will change your mind . . .

2) Having said the above, maybe Paizo needs more control over what is automatically added to the store. I personally have no issue whatsoever with them selling this product (and I am also a teacher), but it's obvious that drugs are a hot button topic that will rile up the masses. This product isn't immoral (IMHO) but is lame and does very little good being available thru Paizo and clearly does some harm.

3) Whether drug-use should be moral/immoral, legal/illegal or how attitudes regarding drug-use compare to attitudes regarding sexual activity and violence actually has very little to nothing to do with the issue here. And, it's against board policy to bring this stuff up mostly anyway. I think the OP was okay to post this here, although as Mike pointed out, it would have been more appropriate to post on Paizo's site. And you just can't post something like this without expecting a quick thread lock-down, or sheer lunacy while the mods are away . . .

4) Oh yeah, and criticizing someone's parenting skills and decisions on these boards is soooooo uncool, and also probably against board policy . . . .

5) People on all sides of the issue just need to chill out and relax!

6) Eric Noah rocks and deserves to have special moderator powers gifted unto him.

7) Paizo rocks and will most likely have this cleared up before GenCon is even over, now that Mike's aware of the little firestorm in a teacup.

And finally, most importantly . . . . why didn't Mike get to go to GenCon? Is he being punished by his Paizo superiors? What offense could he have committed?? Could he actually be the one behind "Baked Baked" and is jealously stirring up trouble while his coworkers are all having fun (and working hard) at GenCon??

Hmmmm . . . .

As a side note in all of this, I haven't preused the Paizo site in some three or four years. I must say, I like the MAgnificent Egos minis and will be placing an order within the next couple of weeks. Since MEga Miniatures are also available there, Paizo is going to now become a major one-stop-shop for me when it comes to my mini requirements.

Hmmmm . . . .

I think he showed up late to a production meeting awhile back and thought they were talking about Pathfinder the movie, not the adventure path product, and said "Clancy Brown rocks!" and thusly was shunned.

Shunned hard, long, and not looked at for many days.

*chuckles*
