An unused concept for the Modron Primus for 5e

Honestly, I couldn't be happier with Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. It's exactly what I wanted. Lots of cool fiend lore, plus all the tiefling 'subraces.' The elves got a good chunk, with eladrin and shadar-kai making an appearance. The dwarves and duergar got explored, and I actually am really taking a good look at duergar as antagonists - previously I hadn't really known much about them other than "deep dwarves." Halflings and gnomes was a decent chapter. Nothing super revelatory that I caught, but I incorporated some of it into a halfling character I've been playing. The gith stuff was also good, if a bit familiar for me. To be honest, I mostly skimmed that chapter.

And the art. Good gods, the art. The big, two-page spread of Zuggtmoy skyrocketed to the upper levels of my list of favorite D&D art. Likewise with the adventurer surrounded by skeletons on a pile of gold, another two-page piece. Seriously, the art for Mordenkainen's is my favorite of any official book so far, easily on par with Kobold Press's Tome of Beasts.

Well worth the money. I only wish I'd been able to get a special edition cover.
