An Unusual Use for Rust Monsters

True lovers of rust monsters would be revolting peasants (armed with clubs and no armor), druids, and monks. For an established fighter class, like feudal lords, this would be suicide.

A rust monster on every corner....at the bottom of a pit with a hole at street level, surrounded/topped by a yellow barrier...which is right next to the red barrier that has an otyugh at the bottom for non-metallic garbage...and on the other side a blue barrier around a hole in the street/sidewalk with an ooze or pudding (which one disintegrates non-organic matter again?)

It's not "recycling" per se...can't really recreate steel out of rust powder or rust monster excrement...but it sho' do cut back on the garbage dumps/land fills for big cities. :D

The newspapers, you say? Just give them back to the dryads...they'll love it!

But it cuts down on the number of murder weapons the diviners would get to read...

I wouldn't want that in the streets of a city I ruled- but it might be useful in the confines of certain institutions.

A GOOD diviner (i am so sick of the crappy diviners in my cities!) could still narrow it down....wouldn't be a weapon...would be a street corner...or the rust monster beneath it...but they could still divine the location of the..."remnants" of the murder weapon. :)

If you team them up with Bullettes, they can get in and wreak havoc without prior warning, plus have the Bullettes undermine city walls.

You'd probably have to twist things around a bit, but if the rust monsters can do their job in the water supply, all the corroded metal would go a long way towards tainting it, so that people can't drink from it.
