Drunk, charming and brilliant, ideally... I'm not sure Downey can do brilliant. Or maybe it only seems that way to me because of his tendency to play goofballs and weirdoes, and because the last movie I saw him in was "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang."

I wouldn't mind seeing Edward Norton in the role.

Considering that I never considered any rich secret identity (or alter ego) to be brilliant, and that includes Bruce Wayne on the DC side, I'm sure Downey needn't worry about that. I do expect him to pull a MacGyver if he wants to escape with the armored suit from the people he's supposed to be making it for. So, yeah, this role has to be physically demanding and resourceful.

People remember Chaplin, but do they remember US Marshals? Eccch. If the script is good, there's not another actor in Hollywood that can capture the Dark and tortured better then this guy.

I'm okay with the casting and am probably the biggest Iron Man fan on this site with a complete run off all comics title IronMan (and originals of all but three issues of Tales of Suspense). He can pull off the role fine and it might help resurrect his career.

This makes me what to see this movie less now. IMO a terrible choice but I do hope for Iron Man fans that the movie does in fact turns out to be a good one.
