Andrzej Sapkowski´s books?

I´ve finished reading the first book of Grealt of Rivia´s saga, Ostatnie zyczenie (no idea of the English translation, but the spanish title means "the last wish") and it´s surprisingly good. Are there already any thread about this writer? I´d like to know more opinions about his other books; if they are as good as this I´m buying them for sure -or if no one knows of him I´d like to offer my comments-

I like his stuff. I'm currently in the process of odering more of his books, so unfortunately I can't speak for anything besides "The Last Wish". He does get billed frequently as the best Polish fantasy writer - and he's definitely the most popular.

The short stories are a pretty weird mix of whimsical and dark as hell, and he really enjoys poking fun at traditional fairy tales - but it's all very well done, and he's a genuinely talented writer, IMO. I'm not sure any English translations exist, though, so it's going to be hard for anyone here to judge for himself.

BTW, a CRPG based on the books is being made, called "The Witcher", using a modified NWN engine.

You´re right, there´s no english translation. Being published in spanish, I assumed the were in english, too, and it´s a shame: it´s really good fantasy, or at least, written by someone who knows his profession, and that´s to say a lot nowadays.

The short stories have a simple but well thought plot (each one could be easily made a D&D short adventure, btw) and Sapkowski knows how to handle the characters through all the mixed humour and violence while being so natural and human at the same time.
