Andy Collins on the Planar Handbook

It seems to me like a good deal of the Planescape flavor was overlaid on the D&D core books. I get the same feel from a lot of the illustrations, for instance, and it seems like a lot of the attitude is there, even with the "back to the dungeons" advertisments.

Maybe it's just because I'm a fan, but all of my D&D games so far have felt at least a little like Planescape, even if we weren't travelling far on a single world, much less leaving that single world.

Funny ever since I got into the Scarred Lands, everything else starts to feel that way. Well everything is all "Scarred Lands." But still! :)
