Anecdotal Basic Game sales

G'day!

My FLGS here in Ballarat got in six copies of the new D&D Basic Game a couple of weeks before Christmas.

One was sold to me, the other five were sold before Christmas came along.

Hopefully, that's five people (and their friends) who have now been introduced to D&D.

Just wondering if anyone else knows how the D&D Basic Game has been selling?

I went to my LGS on December 28th, just as they got a shipment in. I was torn between the Basic Game and GoL packs, and asked how many Basic Games they got and when they expect they'll run out. The answer was 50 copies of the game, and that they expected to run out by the end of January.

I bought two packs of GoL (Frost Giant/Treant and Otyugh/Cloud Giant) and then went there on January 4th. I got one of the Basic Games, and was told they had been selling them like crazy. So, it seems like the Basic Game is a smash hit.

The black dragon is beautiful, BTW.

i went to the bookstore down the street from work.

they had 2 boxes.

i bought one. and the other one is still there collecting dust.

They flew out of the borders near my workplace.

Everyplace I've been they disappear pretty quickly.

Maybe they just biodegrade rather quickly .

The B&N near me had a big display of them, and it only had a single basic game left in it when I last was there a week ago. Seems to be selling well.

Of the two (wow!) FLGS near me, one had six in stock, has sold none, while the other had 4 in stock, sold all of them.

In other words, looks like mixed results locally.
