I love their chemistry.

Absolutely great.

Nevermind.. Have at it!"

Hrmmmm...

Strong start. Made me feel kinda hollow by the end. Not sure what went wrong...

Peak? One particular word from a glowing guest star followed by a well placed expletive.

IMHO.... :D

Where's my build up??????

Only 2 episodes left. There should have been some build up to a finale in there. If this episode had happened earlier in the season, i would have liked it more. But, it just felt like nothing went on.

Flaskback with Darla and Dru was...funny. And I did enjoy the Andrew bits. Really didn't see him as a ladies man (they always seemed to play him up as kind of gay on Buffy).

A little bit interesting with Illyria's "As you wish." comment at the end. Makes you wonder just what exactly Wesley did there.

But over all, it's the only episode this season that I didn't really enjoy. Bits of it, I liked, but as a whole, I found it lacking.

Boy, The Immortal sure has style, doesn't he? What class! Luring them there, dangling Buffy in front of them, stealing the head, holding the head for ransom, blowing them up, and sending the head to the main office.

I only hope *I* can be such a brilliant evil guy when I grow up.

Is it just me or was that a "The Princess Bride" allusion there?

though he was taking out two ladies and wearing a tux - fantasies aside, it may well have just been a watcher function. I don't mind andrew becoming more self confident and less of a loser, but I didn't find the gay overtones to be part of his loserdom, though it was another thing that made him uncomfortable.

not my cuppa overall as an episode - I like my heroes heroic, not lovable losers. And the poor jacket! it had deep sentimental value!

Lots of buffy references in this one. The origen of the jacket, buffy killing angel back when, the whole cookie dough bit... makes sense given the situation, but were folks who came to angel not via buffy annoyed?

(ps, what kind of lame ransom drop has neither party actually checking the goods? weak excuse for a punchline, imho)

For myself, it felt like Angel and Spike were too silly, not acting like they should have. Add to that the creation of "the immortal", which is just another bad plot device, no continuity, just toss him in and then drop him out. For someone so "powerful" he has had little impact on the world, especially given his supposed neutrality. Linking Buffy with him was assinine IMO.

Seeing the small role, I can understand why SMG didn't do the show. What's the point?
And, wasn't Andrew a big change from his role earlier this season? There hasn't been that much time really, but now he's totally different (before and after his "change") I kind of hoped they revealed it was the Immortal in disguise, but no, it was just... pointless.

So, this episode went no where. There was supposed to be an "understanding" between Spike & Angel, but I didn't see it. From my perspective they're identical to how they started the episode.

They didn't totally gloss over the Baby Sacrifice, but they still didn't seem to build on it. Angel seemed totally as he was before last episode, not more Evil, or Scheming, or anything.

Only redeeming quality for me was Illyria. I'm still peeved that they reduced her power, but she's really messing with Wes, and I like that. It's obvious Wes has power over her too, so it's fun. Wes sure was cleaned up compared to last ep though.

I was very disappointed with the jacket, they could have at least repaired his, but instead they just toss some new one's and he's happy?

He killed a slayer for that jacket!

This is my speculation, but I believe that the Buffy role was so small BECAUSE of her inability to do the guest appearance. They probably had to rewrite it extensively.

I found the Illyria/Wesley storyline MUCH more interesting. He has obviously grown - the Wesley of last year would have jumped at the chance to have Illyria as a "Fred Toy." I was thinking, "If she could do this all along, and Wesley had known it, he would be all over this!" But his love and respect for Fred have changed him; he needs to make Illyria a better "person," in his mind, for the sake of Fred's Memory, to know she didn't die in absolute vain. Good job, Wes.
