Angel Star to Play Superman?

I think he has the range to pull it off. He's shown it on both Buffy and Angel. Recall the ep where the female ghost took him over. He's best when he's Angelus but he can pull off charismatic hero as well, IMHO.

It's now confirmed he turned the role down. They are showing on E! channel (or were before Anna Nicole) right now, on the scroll bar. That rumor about the three runners-up starting with Brendan Frasier is now being played as supposedly accurate.

I hadn't thought of it before, but Brendan Fraser is the first person I've seen suggested that I think could possibly do the role justice. I like David B. Since his first appearance on Buffy, I think he's grown tremendously as an actor, but I really can't see him as Superman. Batman maybe, depending on how he looked in the mask :) but not Supes.

I was just thinking about this, and since someone mentioned Batman, and of course with Birds of Prey gone, wouldn't it be cool IF we had a real TV Batman like in the 60s? (Not the 60's batman but a TV live action batman?) My thoughts, we let the guys on WB continue with Smallvile but take their Bruce Wayne, have him do his own series, THEN bring in Ethan Hawke (Who I think CAN brood and yet be light hearted.) to do a Batman live action. I mean think of it, he could still play it dark and complex yet still light and flamboyant.

Thoughts, comments?

They should hire an unknown, I really can't think of any established actor who would fit the part. But the definitive Superman movie has already been made, so I don't really care either way.

I could maybe see the actor from Fox's Profit. All I can remember right now is that his name is Adrian Pasar? (last name is Psomething), he used to be on the show Mysterious Ways (or something like that, & he's married to the lead singer of the Dixie Chicks. The only problem is that he has a large, but light, scar on his face.

One person who fits the bill in my mind is Tom Welling (Clark Kent from "Smallville." He's 26, and looks the part. Brendan Fraser COULD do it, but his look is too "goofy" to me.

I do not believe David Boreanaz could pull it off - but maybe that's my typecasting-prejudice showing.

The problem that's often overlooked in these casting thoughts is that whoever does get cast has to pass Two criteria to do the role any justice at all. And if they fail in either of those two, they ruin the film. The first criteria is acting chops, can that actor BE that character. Now I think David B. is a fine actor, I just strongly suspect that he wouldn't find the Superman role a 'fit'. But more importantly, he fails on the second criteria: He does not LOOK the role. George Cloony looked like Bruce Wayne (even if he had an un-redeemable script, and some god-awful bat-costumes to deal with), Ben Affleck looks like Matt Murdock, Patrick Stewart looks like Charles Xavier, and Christoper Reeve looked like Superman.

I still agree with those who think that Brendan Frasier is Perfect for Captain Marvel. :)

Maybe. But for me, I doubt this true, mainly BECAUSE Boreanaz is Angel/Angelus.
That's because you are typecasting him. Not a good thing for any actor who wants his or her acting skill to have a wide range.
