Animal Growth and the Caster

Could a druid use animal growth on him/herself? The spell's description suggests that it can only be used on outside targets, like animal companions. Can the spell be used on the caster, perhaps using natural spell while wildshaping?

Not anymore.

Before the Polymorph errata changed the way wildshape works, a wildshaped druid would lose his own type and take on the type of the form he took, so if he were wildshaped into an animal form, he could use animal growth on himself.

Nowadays, wild shape is based upon Alternate Form, which means that the druid retains his own type and subtype while transformed, and is thus not a valid target for the spell.

On the other hand, if he's a humanoid he's a valid target for enlarge person, even while wildshaped.
