Anit magic Fields and line of effect

OK - recent problem we had in ruling:

We know that Anti magic fields SUPRESS magic. So what happens to spells that are cast from inside the anitmagic field that are instantaneoes in nature - for example, can you cast a fireball OUT of an anti magic field?

What about casting a lightning bolt THROUGH an anti magic field? As a diagram:
CASTER -> ANTIMAGIC FIELD -> TARGET

Does the anti magic field block line of effect?

I'm sure I've seen this before, but buggered if I can remember what the conclusion was...

No on the fireball: you can't cast a spell when inside an antimagic field even if the effects will manifest outside of said field.

No-ish on the lightning bolt: you only need line of effect to the point of origin of the spell - and as the area of effect is a line, the point of origin is the caster. So you can cast the spell, which will then travel down its intended path until it is intersected by the antimagic field, at which point it will terminate and go no further past.
