Anna Nicole Smith has died!

Ok I'll be the first to play the conspiracy angle up:

She and her son both die in odd circumstances in a short period of time with millions of dollars still in legal limbo. My mind is leaping to bizarre conclusions perhaps, but her death was sudden and expected, so forgive the track that my train of thought is leaping off of.

I'll forgive it, since I was contemplating posting exactly the same thoughts before I read this. :)

But I did feel sad hearing about this, I can't help feeling sorry for her even if she did live out most of the last several years in massive luxury. :(

Plus, Hudsucker Proxy is among my favorite "upbeat" movies. I'll have to watch it again as a personal tribute- however minor it may be.

Holy crap!

Admittedly, she and I were far from close (distant cousin), but I have to say I never expected that ENWorld would be the first place I would hear about someone in my family dying!

I tend to think that drugs had little to nothing to do with it - chronic respiratory illness is unfortunately a common theme in my family. Then again, so is death from drug abuse, prescription and otherwise, so who the heck knows....

Note: I've noticed that this thread has fallen silent since I posted this. If these two things are related, please feel free to comment on Anna Nicole like you would had I not said anything. We really WERE NOT close, and I'm not going to take offense at anything (beyond what I would for ANYONE) - she DID make some very strange choices in her life. It's just a fact.
Wow, that's kinda odd that this would be the first place you'd hear of it, but still, my condolences for this. Even a distant, off-beat cousin is still family.

I'm not understanding the outpouring of emotion. Did she do something noteworthy I'm not aware of?

Her role (up until her son died) was this: She was someone who had it all, whether she deserved it or not, that we (meaning your average Joes and Janes) could all still watch and feel superior to. And when tragedy struck (her son's early death, her early death, and her unfortunate five month old daughter left without a mother), we realized that she was still a person, and that we actually felt sorry for her and her family.

Actually, no. And I'm as confused as you are.

And comparing her to Jane Mansfield is being extremely generous.
