The fact that they gave us a good 6 month warning was very nice of Wizards. It definitely shows they are care more about short term profits.
As soon as the announcement happened, our whole group decided to drop 3e and play other games until 4e comes out (starting a new campaign seemed pointless, We saved money on books, and get a nice break so we will be "fresh" for the new books)
