Another armor damage version

In our game we allow armor and weapon damage IF THE PLAYER CHOOSES.

Weapon damage: if you roll a 1, you can sacrifice your weapon but do an automatic critical

Armor damage: you can sacrifice two points of armor to completely deflect a single hit

Armor damage on a critical: you can sacrifice an action point and two armor points to drop a critical to a normal hit..and may drop two more to completely deflect the hit.

IT'S COOL. The players like it, especially at low levels. The DM likes it because then players ware willing to sacrifice stuff once in a while and burn through some gold and items and get new stuff. Then the DM doesn't have to worry about how many magic items are found.

Any of you use something simple like this?
