Congrats to everyone . . . Pike, Andy, Gabriel, Jeremy, and Jennifer! I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves. It was quite the experience! For the rest, thanks to all for your comments and criticisms. I appreciate all the constructive comments that were made on the board . . . it seems a very friendly place.

Whoever the winner was, I wish them great success with the novel! :)

I don't know how IP addresses work. Do roommates who share an Internet connection have the same IP address? Also, would the computer lab a large university (like say, my own current scool San Francisco State, which has a large gamer community) just have one big IP address? Why do I have a sinking feeling...?
Generally that's not a problem, speaking from past experiences with other projects. I've found that most dupes come from a buddy who wants to be "helpful" and so registers multiple accounts. There's no telling how many - if any - of those there are until Morrus sorts through them.

Let me just say, incidentally, how impressed I am by the competitors. I can see why you made the short list.

OK, guys, I've done my checking and stuff. It really was a close as it looked, but after the usual IP stuff we get:

Gabriel Dolorosa: 88

Jeremy Forbing: 84
William A. Kooiker: 40
Jennifer Schoonover: 25
Pike Stephenson: 20
Andy Goldman: 7

So, the winner of the author search is Gabriel Dolorosa.

But well done to all six of you. As I said before, you were shortlisted for a reason. There isn't one of you that I wouldn't be delighted to work with for the other War of the Burning Sky related projects we have planned. These include more fiction, and additional adventures outside the main campaign arc. Some of the characters you created were really compelling, and it would be a real shame to waste them.

Thank you to all of you for entering; thank you to everyone who took the time to read and vote. Thank you even more to anyone who has plonked their hard-earned cash down on WotBS stuff!

I hope you all enjoyed this; like the mapping competition, I had fun, and I hope that you all did, too.
