Another delayed WotC item

So if a horde of zombie essentials takes WotC away you are prepared!

Damn straight! Of course I might lose Monster Vault and MM3 access which would be a bummer, but everything else I use I own already. :p

To be fair, I understand the distress this can cause in other people. I just think that there's no way I'd ever really use all their books anyway given my particular play pattern (i.e. availability).

I think that right now there is a glut of D&D book products out. I am hard pressed to think of anything other than a poster map pack adventure (I miss you Fantastic Locations), or a new monster book that would get me interested in purchasing something.

My hope (ok, I don't hope for layoffs but):

1. Staff is reduced or redirected to managing digital efforts (Make Dungeon and Dragon great again)
2. Better, more tightly integrated digital tools like CB, MB and VTT all sharing a common database... that you can use OFFLINE!
3. Serious efforts given to development of next generation RPG. Take lessons learned from 4E/Essentials, as well as competitors. For the love of money and peace in the universe, a less restrictive license.

The only books I was sort of thinking of picking up have already been cancelled, so I probably am a terrible predictor of what WoTC is going to do. It doesn't matter too much to me anyhow, I have my books, I have my offline CB still, and I already cancelled my DDI subscription thanks to a lack of any serious content on the magazines. I really enjoy the 4E game mechanic, but dislike the choices the stewards of the brand are making at the moment.

On the one hand the delays save me quite some money in the short run.

On the other hand I can't really satisfy my collector's urge. Just two Gamma World expansions to bridge the D&D gap? That doesn't cut it. MUST. BUY. MORE. ;) :)

But please, WotC, don't delay Wrath of Ashardalon again. That would suck.

What is wrong with you, man?!

Personally, I'd like to see WotC try their hand at a Paizo-style adventure path. Scales of War wasn't bad, but knowing what they know now about Skill Challenges and monster/encounter design, I'm sure that a non-Dungeon adventure path could be pretty impressive.

If they could do another AP, one that met the quality of their modules (with actual deep NPCs, not cardboard cut-outs), no/little grind and the interesting set-piece battles (they actually did a good job at this in the last one). I would certainly love to see it.
