Another FR Poll on WotC's site

It was there as of a minute ago from when I typed this, for anyone who's interested. It asks questions about whether you play in FR at all and what kinds of FR products you are interested in (whether to buy or use).

Chopping block? Doubt it. Likely they want a feeling for the best direction to continue in. That's good.

It's possible, of course, that FR has run its course, but there's nothing in the survey that asks "Is FR ready for the pasture?" It asks first "Do you use FR?" and then "What do you want?"

Two books on the horizon; Unapproachable East treads no new ground, and Races of Faerun, more rules, right?

They probably just want to figure out what to do next.

I agree with this.

If they replaced GH as the core setting and used FR, a lot of gamers would put up a stink far greater than any the internet has ever seen.

Gamers love their setting - go figure.

Naw, I just took it and it looks like they're trying to consider which FR products to put out. I.e. more like Silver Marches, more FR specific adventures, or more like Monsters of Faerun and Magic of Faefun. That kind of thing. There's a lot they could do in the Realms and I think they're trying to see what most people would buy. Simple cheap market reserach. :)

I think the survey is a result of the argument between the elves and the bean counters. They want to know how much crunch and how much story to put in, and how often they should release a module. The whole issue is covered here in this fun little parable.

Essentially the writers want to put in story and history and the people in accounting or wherever dont think that will sell. They are testing the waters to see what they should produce. FR is far to valuable of a property to send it to the chopping block. It would be like WotC deciding that they did not want the Star Wars liscense anymore.

Aaron.
