Another FR Poll on WotC's site

My suggestion to everyone is to pick the one you like best in the third question, and then vote 5, lower, 5 for the fourth. That will say

WE WANT CRUNCH AND STORY DUMMIES.

Duh.

Aaron.

Here is one item not on their poll.

Its no longer 2002., it is 2003 so dump the Year of the Drow bit.

BTW, is it just me or was that a lame idea anyways? If I remember right the only Drow thing to come out was the one Mega-Module.

I had really kind of expected a lot more than that if they were going to do a whole "year of" theme for the Drow.

Hmm... I wonder how responses like mine will be handled, then.

In a nut shell (_heavily_ paraphrased), I said:

FR is a lame setting. The crunchy bits you've put out are awesome, the layout of the books is awesome. I also really want well-developed campaign settings and soft-bits. It's just that everything that makes FR uniquely FR turns me off.

Not trying to start an FR good/FR bad argument. Just an afterthought about whether they'll say, "See, people do want crunchy bits." or if they'll say, "Maybe we should give a good amount of support to two different styles of settings."

If they say the former, they missed my point. If the latter, I'll be plenty happy.

I'm curious as to why you think FR is a "Lame" setting. Personally, I love it... There are some things I don't like about it... but those things I generally just don't use in my campaigns.

Well there was a corresponding novel series; we're just getting to book 3 (of what, 6?) now. Still, that in itself harkens back to the less-than-thrilling days of too-close ties between FR novels and game products...

If they replaced GH as the core setting and used FR, a lot of gamers would put up a stink far greater than any the internet has ever seen.
Eh, as the poll I started seems to indicate, most people don't care. Out of those that do there is a higher percentage that would like to see it stay, but if you combine the percentages of those who want it to go and those who don't care, it FAR outweighs those who want it to stay.

Looks like they removed the poll, having got what they wanted... The link from the D&D page was also removed. It's as if the thing never existed. Creeeeepy...

I want fluff!! I'm sick of crunch!! Fluff fluff and MORE fluff...savage species was all crunch...Ick....

I dug my Drizzt's Guide to the underdark (2e) out of storage all fluff....I want stuff like that :-)~

Which is something of a ridiculous interpretation of the stats. Setting aside how unscientific the poll is, it is essential that you WEIGHT those who have an active opinion of whether it should stay or go.
