Another skill challenge solution

Fredrik, I'll be honest after my initial comments on your system I didn't look back, as mathematically its no difference from a set success/failure limit.

However, from a player perspective, it might be. In your system, while a player's failure to get a success IS a failure mathematically, it may not be perceived any differently then when a player fails to hit a monster, giving teh monster another chance to kill the party.

With that in mind, it has some merit, and I'll be taking a closer look at it.

I like the idea behind this very much in theory (especially the player-perspective thing), and I think I'll give it a spin on my Thursday game :)

Looking a little more at my system, friction points might not be a very good idea. Since a skill challenge gives xp equal to a number of monsters of its level, it is MEANT to be hard to do solo or in a small team.

I still believe very much in giving the players an extra round. This makes lower-complexity challenges actually be easier, and gives small parties a fighting chance if not a free ride. You actually have a chance to do a low-complexity skill challenge solo.
