OK, first time dealing with 6th level spells. I've got a whole list of questions to bug my DM with.
If the source of a magical effect is within an Antimagic Field, does the field negate only the AoE of the magic? For instance, let's say I cast Deeper Darkness on a lit torch. Then I cast Antimagic Field. If I understand correctly, I've just created a big bubble of darkness. I can see 10' around me, but beyond that, it's dark.
If I walked over to my friend (who's got Silence, 15' radius cast on him), can he and I have a conversation that no one else can hear?
If someone is scrying on me, can I cast Antimagic Field to disrupt their scrying (ie, prevent them from seeing the area 10' around me)? Or would I have to be within 10' of the "magical sensor" created by their spell?
Can I cast spells OUT of the field? IE, can I cast a Searing Light at someone outside the 10' radius? The SRD says, "Likewise, it prevents the functioning of any magic items or spells within its confines." I assume that means, "Likewise, any spells cast or magic items used within its confines have no effect."
Does the field block line of effect for these things also? Let's say I have AMF cast on myself. My paladin friend walks up behind me (let's say he's 20' away). He sees a bunch of skeletons charging at me from the other side. He attempts to turn them. Does he have a chance? Does the AMF block his turning attempt? Or does it simply suppress the attempt in the area around me? By the same token, could my wizard friend cast a lightning bolt at the BBEG on the other side of me?
Has AMF been reduced to 1min/level?
Thanks,
Spider
